MUDDY WATERS
Muddy Waters aka McKinley Morganfield (April 4/1913 – April 30/1983) was
an American Blues
musician who is considered the 'Father of Modern Chicago Blues'. He was a
major inspiration for the British Blues explosion in the 1940's and is
ranked #17 in Rolling Stone magazine list of the 100 Greatest Artists of
All Time. Muddy Waters recorded a series of Blues classics during the
early 1950's,including 'Hoochie Coochie Man', 'I Just Want to Make Love to
You' and 'I'm Ready'. His use of amplification is cited as the
technological missing link between Delta Blues and Rock & Roll. Muddy's
influence is tremendous over a variety of music genres: Blues, R&B, Rock &
Roll, Hard Rock, Folk, Jazz, and Country. Muddy Waters was inducted in
1980 into Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and 1987 into Rock & Roll Hall of
Fame. In 1992 he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his
contribution to recording arts. |
